- 22 Dec 2016
2016 has been an incredibly busy year for us.
Some of our work highlights included PR and event management for the opening of HMS Caroline, launching Pizza Express's new outlets in Belfast, and event management and consumer PR work for Boots' 50th anniversary.
We also ran content campaigns for SPAR, Ulster Bank and Ulster University, did corporate work for Norbrook and Almac, and made major announcements for Novosco, including launching its amazing new offices.
But it was also a really significant year for us as a company, and here are some of the highlights.
We marked 40 years in business
JComms is Northern Ireland's longest-established PR company, having been founded in 1976, and we're really proud to still be developing, innovating and growing 40 years on.
As you know, our core business is, and remains, public relations. But, as you also know, we’re much more than that, with events, content marketing, and digital marketing experts in our team. We therefore took the decision to become JComms. It’s not a huge departure, you’ll agree, but we think it better reflects the breadth of our services, and the more integrated nature of what we do.
Three of our team members became amongst the first in Northern Ireland, and indeed the UK, to achieved CIPR Chartered Practitioner Status. No other consultancy in Northern Ireland has three Chartered PR practitioners. CIPR says that Chartered status represents the highest standard of professional excellence and integrity.
Best Event Award
At the eighth annual Event Industry Awards, we were delighted to win Best Awards Ceremony in Ireland from a shortlist that included major Irish awards events. The award was presented for our work organising the Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards for the Sunday Life newspaper.
Best Public Affairs Campaign
We won Best Campaign in Northern Ireland at The Public Affairs Awards. The award was for work for HMS Caroline. The awards are organised by the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), Government Knowledge (GovKnow) and Zetter’s Political Services (ZPS). The ceremony took place at the Park Plaza, Riverbank, London.
Outstanding Consultancy Award
For the second year running, we were delighted to be awarded in the Outstanding Consultancy category of the CIPR NI PRide Awards. Last year, we took the Gold award, this year is was the Silver. Very well done to Smarts Communicate for taking Gold this year.
Gold at the PRide Awards
We were delighted to take Gold in the Community Relations Campaign category of the CIPR PRide Awards for work for SPAR.
UK Excellence Awards
In the CIPR's prestigious UK Excellence Awards, we were nominated for Small Consultancy of the Year from hundreds of agencies right across the UK! No other Northern Ireland company was shortlisted.
New team members
We welcomed Ryan Andrews to our team. Having spent four years studying Media Moving Image, Ryan went on to work for three years as a staff camera operator, sound technician and editor for UTV PLC. Before joining JComms, Ryan was a freelance video content producer for three years, shooting and editing for a range of organisations including BT, Bank of Ireland, Bacardi, Dr Marten’s, Ulster Rugby, and others. We are delighted to have his expertise and experience at JComms.
We've also been recruiting for other roles, and we'll have more exciting team news early in the new year. Watch this space!
